A platform to showcase the boundless creative thoughts of the youth of the Faculty of Management and Finance in University of Colombo was recognized; and ‘REBELZZART, The Unconventional Thought Group’ was born from this need, a need for a forum of contemporary art. The group is an informal assemblage of students of the Faculty of Management & Finance of University of Colombo, carrying a multitude of similar interests in various forms of contemporary Art & Literature. The group seeks the depths of unbound thoughts and creativity of its members providing diverse platforms to contribute their unconventional and unique outflows to the world at large. It hosts its own blog where its members facilitate a writing space as a platform for emerging artists to showcase their works, and to create a window for the Group to appreciate their own artistic capabilities.
The group holds the line ‘I think, therefore I am’ to define their identity and recognize the following as their objectives:
- Introduce and uphold the unconventional and broader approach of thinking within the membership that would provide rational & independent individuals to the country
- Create platforms for its members to express their thoughts to the world in any form or nature of art, literature, cinema, discussion forums etc.
- Enhance the aptitudes of the emerging youth of the faculty of Management and Finance
- Provide exposure to the membership and the like minded individuals to local and international contemporary thought and forms of art
- Promote peaceful means of expression and livelihood to the youth in order to promote a harmonized and a liberated future generation
REBELZZART, seeking the depths of liberated creativity of its members is now ready to share its creative outflows with the world at large. Its ready to present to the world what they hold within and to witness the colorful wonders of what the world has in offer for them.
